NIGH expands its Board of Directors

A world-renowned environmental campaigner and two nursing leaders from India and Canada have joined the International Board of Directors of the Nightingale Initiative for Global Health, NIGH, the fastest growing movement on nursing and global health. Cyril Ritchie, President of the Congress of Non-Governmental Organizations (CONGO) of the United Nations, Phalakshi V. Manjrekar, M.Sc.N, Nursing Director at P. D. Hinduja National Hospital and Medical Research Center in Mumbai, India, and Dionne Sinclair, RN, BScN, D.O.H.S., MScN, CPMHN(c), Manager, Mental Health and Addictions Program, Inpatient General and Acute Unit at the Humber River Regional Hospital, Keele Site, Toronto Ontario, and Poonam Sharma, BSN, Public Health nurse in the Family Health division, Healthy Babies, Healthy Children, Ontario, Canada.

In 2008 & 2009, Asoka Roy’s family created a Platinum Sponsorship of the Nightingale Declaration Campaign to honor the memory of their sister — a pioneering nurse & midwife in both India & the United States. Projects developed from this contribution included an India-wide outreach of the Nightingale Declaration dedicated to Asoka’s memory.
