The Foundation raises funds to provide a range of scholarships for Nurses and Midwives to study at home and abroad, to promote innovation in practice, to extend knowledge and skills to meet changing needs, and improve patient care.
The Foundation promotes the special contribution of Nurses and Midwives to society and to the health of people. It also encourages international understanding and learning.
As part of the above, The Foundation holds an annual Florence Nightingale Commemoration Service in Westminster Abbey in London around 12th May, which is both International Nurses Day and Florence Nightingale’s birthday, to commemorate her life and works. Tickets for the Service are free. Application details are available on The Foundation’s website.
