Donna Karan supports the Nightingale Declaration Campaign |
|
|
Donna Karan, the world famous fashion designer and philanthropist, has endorsed the Nightingale Declaration Campaign.
 |
Donna Karan:
"One of my passions is to see a more widespread use of integrative medicine. Nurses are key in mobilizing new approaches in integrative care, prevention and education. Radical changes are necessary to create a healthy world — local to global." |
Offering her support to the Nightingale Declaration Campaign, she says: “I support the Nightingale Declaration Campaign as nurses are true healers and the heart and soul of healthcare worldwide. Today the world is faced with a nursing shortage — local to global.
"Today, more than ever, we need quality nurses to address the unmet needs of patients and their families as they address the challenges presented by modern illnesses. More than anyone in the healthcare system, nurses are positioned to ‘treat the patient, as well as treating the disease’.
"One of my passions is to see a more widespread use of integrative medicine. Nurses are key in mobilizing new approaches in integrative care, prevention and education. Radical changes are necessary to create a healthy world — local to global. Through the visionary endeavours of the Nightingale Declaration nurses are participating as health diplomats, weaving threads of global healing, collaboration, and influence. They are navigating the rough waters at this dynamic moment in the development of healthcare. I invite all to sign the Nightingale Declaration to support nurses in their important work.”

- Well-being: change the current healthcare paradigm to include integrative medicine and promote patient advocacy.
- Empowering children: care for the well-being of children and give them tools to face obstacles and opportunities with love, compassion and strength.
- Preserving cultures: help cultures maintain their natural essence and identity in the face of globalization.
The Urban Zen Initiative will endeavour to raise funds for existing charitable organizations. It envisions a world where people embrace the vital connection between mind, body, and spirit in order to live healthier lives.
The Urban Zen brand creates sustainable revenue streams that supports the Urban Zen Initiative through a percentage of sales of clothing, educational and media materials, and lifestyle products for each of our programs.
