Nuturing the Nurse: A Holistic Nursing Forum and Self-Care Retreat |
|
|
October 24 & 25, 2009 in New York City at Donna Karan’s Stephen Weiss Studio
Nurses daily confront major challenges in their workplaces, feeling burnt-out, disconnected from their roots of nursing as a healing art.
This weekend forum and self-care retreat offers our nursing community a special opportunity to nurture ourselves, reduce stress, and promote resilience and renewal, personally and professionally.
The featured presenters for this weekend include NIGH’s own Barbara Dossey, Deva-Marie Beck and Eleanor Kibrick, as well as NIGH’s close colleague and advisor, Susan Luck, of Earthrose Institute. Other faculty include NYC-based experts in their respective fields of holistic health and holistic nursing — Bonney Schaub, Aurora Ocampo and Barbara D’Alessio. Fashion Designer Donna Karan — of the Urban Zen Foundation — will be welcoming all participants to her NYC Stephen Weiss Studio.
Together, we will explore innovative holistic nursing practices that facilitate the inner mechanisms of healing and nurture the mind, body and spirit. We will experience and reconnect to the meaning and purpose of our profession and reconnect with our nursing community; local to global. Through experiential learning, using imagery, mindfulness practice, energy healing, yoga and movement, aroma therapy and essential oils, and nutritionally nurturing meals, participants will deepen their awareness and personal sense of well being.
This program provides clinical skills and tools for nurses to become more effective in their work as educators, clinicians, coaches and guides in diverse healthcare settings including: home care, hospice, hospitals, community health, as educators, and in private practice. All content presented in this program provides a strong theoretical and experiential component, deepening our inner wisdom and knowledge. At the end of this program, participants will experience a renewed sense of well being and a reconnection to the meaning and purpose in their professional work. For over thirty years, our award-winning and distinguished faculty have been leaders in the field of holistic nursing and integrative healthcare nationally and globally.
